The Audi Q7 is a seven-seater luxury crossover SUV, the first to be built by Audi. Although a late entrant to the SUV market, it was one of the first to offer four-wheel drive. It’s considered to be a ‘soft roader’, intended for on-road use.
Is it comfortable?
The Audi Q7 has a healthy dose of luxury which discourages you from traversing muddy fields and thick brush with it. There’s plenty of room in the cabin, a dashboard with a wonderful layout and, of course, a high driving position that offers a commanding view of the road ahead, with slim windscreen pillars to ensure blind spots are minimised as much as possible. The rear seating is not as good as you’ll find in the Volvo XC90; a bit of the functionality is missing and there’s not quite as much room, but on the whole, the Audi Q7 does a good enough job. And as the Audi Q7 is going to be used for transporting luggage, suitcases, pets and a variety of other large odds and ends, it’s good to see that Audi have provided plenty of boot space, with tie-down points for straps and a little underfloor storage too. They also removed the lip from the boot to make it easier to load and unload.
How does it drive?
You barely need to touch the accelerator to launch the Audi Q7. It has excellent grip and the four-wheel drive ensures you have traction on greasy or slippery roads. The standard suspension and handling are not quite as good as you’ll find on rivals such as the BMW X5, but Audi did offer options to improve this. You’ll still have the feeling that the Audi Q7 is designed to be driven around town. The large side mirrors combine with blind-spot monitoring to help you look out for cyclists when turning, and if you put the vehicle in reverse, these mirrors will automatically tilt downwards to help you see where the curb is ... It’s pretty cool.
The verdict
A used Audi Q7 offers plenty of features. With SUVs still popular, you’ll have no trouble interesting customers in a used Audi Q7, especially if they’re looking for luxury and prestige more than extreme off-road ability.
